Consciousness is rapidly increasing in Dallas and I feel so blessed to share with you a few resources and friends that will inspire you to your highest potential! Great examples of being a yogi in the world…
Dallas Vegan is a wonderful and entertaining blog by my precious student and friend, Eddie Garza. School teacher and yogi by day and vegan-about-town by night, Eddie and friends bounce around town checking out various hot spots and discovering where exquisite vegan culinary experiences abound. He generously shares his Dallas dining adventures with humor and enthusiasm. So if you want to go out on the town and want a fresh experience, ask Eddie! dallasvegan@gmail.com
Kalachandji’s Temple Great atmosphere and decadent salad bar! Yummy Dahl. Sweet and efficient service.
Hail Merry! desserts such as Chocolate Tarts and Blonde Macaroons are another example of the incredibly rich flavors offered by Raw Foods. My friend, yogini and Raw Chef, Susan O’Brien, is the creator of these delicious treats. You can find Hail Merry in the refridgerated section at Central Market, Whole Foods and Roy’s.
Cosmic Cafe The Cosmic Cafe is probably the most established vegetarian restaurant in Dallas. I recommend the Dahl with a side of sprouts and of course… a side of avocados! Skip the bread. The Yogi Power also comes highly recommended.
Bliss Raw Cafe just opened Friday 1 May 2009! Although most of our friends from the Raw community are no longer involved in this venture, this spot is still a step in the right direction for Dallas. They have Chocolate Bliss by the glass as well as Hemp Horchata…yum! The Corn Chowder Soup and Fiesta Kale Salad were divine. Looking forward to my next visit tomorrow night! Just follow the link or head over to Greenville Ave. just south of Park Lane and keep your eyes open. Prepare to park across the street near Million Dollar Saloon.
Yoga Mart Dallas local and Iyengar Yoga Teacher, Marj Rash, also happens to be quite the seamstress! She creates wonderful hand-made props such as bolsters, sand bags and eye pillows. In addition to teaching and sewing, Marj hosts a store with an assortment of goodies to support your yoga practice! The store is located in the Lakewood area on Oram St., next to Redenta’s Garden Center at Skillman. Her stuff is AWESOME!
Lululemon Athletica As a 2010 Lululemon Ambassador, many wonderful yoga garments were enjoyed! Thank you Lulus!
Mimi’s Bees My parents, Jim and Jimmie Joyce, offer homemade, organic bath soaps and lotions as well as raw, organic honey. Oh! And for those of you who are curious about the amazing scent of Vanilla and Sandalwood wafting through the air during these hot summer months…this would be the resource that will resolve all those questions and more for easing through the heat of Summer with therapeutic and calming soaps in our baths and transitioning into Fall.
Nessel Development Inc. is expanding in the Dallas area. My yoga brother, Ari Nessel, has brought his vision of Green Living into the apartment lifestyle in Dallas at affordable prices. His properties focus on eco-consciousness and promote healthy community oriented spaces that encourage a peaceful experience for residents. Look for some of our upcoming Summer Vegan/Raw potluck events to be hosted at La Vita and Serendipity…
Power Properties is a great option if you love big trees and the charming, historical character of the Lakewood area. Brother-duo, Craig and Braden Power, have reshaped apartment living in East Dallas by renovating cool, intimate apartment buildings, adding beautiful tropical courtyards and chic, modern finish outs in the units.
FashionistaSource.com As we all know, consciousness has been influencing fashion more and more…at least in some circles. My lovely friend and yogini Walleska Tepping has an eye for fashion trends and knows how to use our resources wisely. She is the founder of the brand ECOCHICC. Check out her wide variety of designer accessories such as soda pop pull-top purses, wallets and golden grass earrings. Although she is based in Dallas, she is a world traveller who scouts out new trends and ready to explore new ideas. New eco-friendly and fair trade items are constantly in the works! You might also look for her at an upcoming Vegan/Raw Food event.
Dallas Health Coach Our friend Susie Haces gives us a lot of inspiration with her recipes like Spirulina Pie! She went to school with Frank Giglio in NYC for her training. Mark your calendars for Daniel Vitalis at Tsada Yoga at the end of October here in Dallas! Check her out!
Urban Acres Wonderful new friend and fellow Lululemon Ambassador, Brian Johnson of The Movement Dallas, is one of the founders of this co-op that features local, seasonal, organic and ethical fruits veggies and more. We receive a bushel every two weeks with a great assortment of fresh, delicious food. There are five pick up locations and a storefront in Oak Cliff near Bishop Arts.
Daniel Vitalis is self-described “Health Motivator and Longevity Strategist”. Daniel brings together a myriad of interrelated information to raise cultural consciousness about our food sources and offers educated ideas for improving individual health and the health of the planet. A true experimentalist, he has adventured through many different dietary paradigms and seeks to bring together everyone from various “conscious eating” communities to make a difference together instead of getting caught up in dogmatic issues about where we get our calories and protein while Monsanto is looming in the shadows manipulating our seeds and controlling our food sources whether we a re vegetarian or not.
Sacred Light Media Long time body worker and healer, Ginny Higgins, has discovered an amazing way of seeing who we really are. Since 2004, she has been capturing images of blood cells under a microscope using an artistic approach to study the universe within.
